There’s so much to do on-site at Jordan Heights!

We have all the equipment on site and a dedicated activities field where your group can try their hand at something new, or improve their skills. Any of the below can form part of your camp itinerary or be booked as a stand along day/evening for a regular section meeting or even select several and plan a dedicated activity day.

If you’re camping on site and want to stretch your legs a little further why not take a look at some nearby activity inspiration too.

Archery

Archery

Archery is a popular activity where Scouts can develop focus, discipline, and coordination. We offer two designated shooting positions—one suited for younger sections with beginner-level equipment, and a second for older, more experienced scouts or explorers to challenge their skills. Both positions ensure a safe and fun environment where participants can improve their aim and technique while enjoying the thrill of hitting the target!

Upgraded in 2024 | Our Archery shelter on the shooting line has been upgraded. A brand new roof means you’ll be kept dry during the rain while instructing.

Archery can be undertaken in all weathers and into the evening. The range and firing line can be illuminated with floodlights.

Tomahawk Throwing

Tomahawk throwing provides older scouts with an exciting opportunity to learn accuracy and technique in this classic outdoor skill. With safety as our top priority, participants will be guided on how to properly throw tomahawks at wooden targets, mastering both power and precision in a fun and safe setting.

Our air rifle shooting range offers scouts the chance to develop precision, patience, and focus in a controlled and safe environment. With guidance from experienced instructors, participants will learn proper shooting techniques as they aim for bullseye targets, enhancing their marksmanship skills while enjoying this challenging and rewarding activity.

New for 2024 – Brand new shooting range with flood lights and shelter form the elements. Our new range has 4 shooting positions with plenty of visibility of the targets. There’s lots of space for instructor visibility and a waiting area for the rest of the group which is under cover.

Soft Axe Throwing

NEW - Junior Tomahawk throwing

Leader Lead – All equipment on site

We have two sets of ‘soft axe throwing’ suitable for younger children on the site. This activity will use the main axe throwing range with the targets stood in front of the main axe throwing targets. This allows a safe space to introduce young people to tomahawk throwing.

NEW - Nerf Guns

Our Nerf gun target-shooting activity is a fun and engaging way for younger section to test their accuracy and coordination. Using foam-dart Nerf blasters, participants aim at a variety of stationary targets, encouraging friendly competition while building hand-eye coordination and focus. This safe and exciting activity is suitable for all ages, making it a perfect blend of fun and skill-building!

Traversing wall / Climbing wall

Leader Lead – All equipment on site

Our Traversing Wall offers scouts a unique climbing challenge focused on lateral movement and agility. Unlike traditional climbing walls, this activity emphasizes traversing horizontally across the wall rather than climbing up. It’s a great way to improve balance, coordination, and problem-solving skills, as participants test their ability to move along the wall while maintaining control. Suitable for all ages and skill levels, the traversing wall provides a fun and safe way to build confidence and climbing technique.

The climbing area has floodlights so can be used year round.

Nightline

Leader Lead – All equipment on site

Our Night Line activity challenges teamwork, trust, and communication as one blindfolded team member navigates a course with the help of their peers. The rest of the team must carefully guide the blindfolded scout around and through various obstacles using only verbal instructions.

This fun and engaging activity emphasizes leadership, cooperation, and clear communication while offering a unique and exciting experience for all participants!

Obstacle Course

Our challenging obstacle course tests scouts’ physical fitness, teamwork, and determination as they navigate various climbing, crawling, and balancing tasks. Suitable for all skill levels, this activity promotes strength, agility, and resilience, encouraging participants to push themselves while supporting one another.

Pioneering

Leader Lead – All equipment on site

Pioneering brings out the scouts’ problem-solving and teamwork skills as they use ropes, poles, and knots to construct various structures, such as bridges or towers. This hands-on activity is a great way to develop practical outdoor skills and creativity, while learning the importance of cooperation and resourcefulness.

We have all the essential, poles, robes, and some handy sheets showing what can be achieves. You’ll but your knot skills to the test and tap into your imagination on what you could construct.

New for 2024 – We’ve moved our pioneering kit to the main camp field so its easily accessible.

Orienteering

Leader Lead – All equipment on site

We offer two orienteering courses, tailored to different skill levels, where scouts can put their navigation abilities to the test. Armed with a map and compass, participants will explore the camp as they find checkpoints and learn key orienteering skills such as map reading and route planning, making it both an educational and adventurous experience.

Important we’re currently refurbishing our orienteering posts and hope to have them back on site shortly.

Fire Lighting and Camp Cooking

Leader Lead – All equipment on site

Our fire lighting and camp cooking area is the perfect space for scouts to learn essential fire-starting techniques and practice their backwoods cooking skills. Participants will discover various methods of safely building and maintaining a fire.

This dedicated area also provides the ideal setting for groups to gather around the and cook a meal outdoors. We’ve a well stocked wood pile but the more adventurous can go gathering their firewood from the woods on site.
